Ride-Along Program
The University Fire Department Ride-along Program provides students interested in the fire service the opportunity to ride as a guest on a University Fire Department apparatus. Students that are curious about participating in this program must be at least 16 years old with the approval of a parent or guardian.
Age Group: 16+ years old with the approval of a parent or guardian at time of participation.
Audience Size: 1
Time: Up to 12 hours, limited between the hours of 0700 and 1900 hours. (The duration of the ride-along is subject to change according to the Battalion Chief and/or Company Officer sponsoring the student visit).
Cost: Free
Procedure:
- Submit a Ride-along request;
- Fill out Ride-along packet and submit packet to krmiddleton@alaska.edu
If under the age of 18, completion of “Minor Fire Department Ride-along” form in packet listed above is required;
Initiate your ride-along 14 days prior to the requested ride-along dates;
Note: In an effort to accommodate possible schedule conflicts, be prepared to provide at least two dates that you are available to complete the Ride-along.
Please keep in mind that this program is specifically designed for students and guests that are interested in exploring a career in the fire service and learning more about the University Fire Department.
